Optimizing production line performance in electronics manufacturing: A case study of a component manufacturing enterprise in Vietnam

Abstract

This study focuses on addressing line imbalance and low production efficiency arising from discrepancies between initial design and actual operating conditions in a Vietnamese electronics component manufacturing enterprise. The findings reveal that the PCBA assembly station is overloaded, creating a bottleneck, while several inspection and packaging stations have excess capacity, leading to resource inefficiencies. Based on this, the study proposes two main solution groups: automation using industrial robots and restructuring to rebalance resources. Experimental results demonstrate that these solutions improve line efficiency from 87% to 94%, reduce waste, and enhance the enterprise’s competitiveness.
