Digital transformation in tourism activities at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel: Current status and sustainable development solutions
Published: July 20, 2026
Abstract
This study evaluates the current state of digital transformation in tourism activities at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and proposes sustainable development solutions. Using field surveys, stakeholder interviews, and benchmarking against international digital heritage models, the study identifies gaps in technological infrastructure and barriers related to awareness, finance, human resources, and legal frameworks. It proposes a phased digital transformation roadmap for 2025–2030, integrating AR/VR, smart visitor management systems, IoT-based conservation, digital payments, and multi-channel digital marketing to enhance visitor experience and heritage preservation.
