Challenges and adaptation strategies for accounting and finance training institutions amid the rise of artificial intelligence: Evidence from Vietnam

Abstract

This study identifies the challenges faced by accounting and finance training institutions in Vietnam in adopting artificial intelligence and proposes appropriate adaptation strategies. Employing a qualitative research design, the study draws on document analysis, semi-structured interviews with 15 lecturers and administrators, and focus group discussions with five experts. The findings reveal four major groups of challenges: technological infrastructure, digital competencies, governance mechanisms, and ethical and data security concerns. In response, the study proposes five groups of solutions, including advancing digital transformation, strengthening digital competencies, innovating training programs, improving AI governance frameworks, and enhancing collaboration among educational institutions, businesses, and regulatory authorities. The study further develops an AI adaptation competency framework to support training institutions in improving their readiness in the context of digital transformation.
