Factors influencing intention to and actual use of artificial intelligence in learning among students at Ho Chi Minh City Open University

Abstract

This study identifies factors influencing students’ intention and actual use of artificial intelligence (AI) for learning at Ho Chi Minh City Open University. The study extends UTAUT by incorporating trust in AI, perceived risk, AI usage competence , academic integrity, and habit. Survey data from 350 students were analyzed using Cronbach’s Alpha, EFA, CFA, and SEM. The results show that trust in AI, performance expectancy, and social influence positively affect behavioral intention, while behavioral intention and habit positively affect actual use. Based on these findings, the study proposes implications for universities, lecturers, and students to promote effective and responsible use of AI in learning.
