Financial management in digital news agencies in the context of digital transformation

Digital transformation is fundamentally reshaping the operational models, cost structures, and revenue streams of digital news agencies. While financial management previously focused on budgeting, cost control, advertising revenue, and publishing services, it now requires significant investment in technology infrastructure, audience data, multi-platform content, digital copyrights, and platform risk management. Using a comprehensive approach combining literature review, policy analysis, and publicly available data, this study identifies major financial challenges faced by digital news agencies, including declining advertising revenue, rising technology costs, and limitations in management accounting and digital product valuation. The study proposes managerial implications to innovate financial management toward sustainability, aligned with financial autonomy and social responsibility.
