The impact of AI-powered information summarization features on students’ online purchase intention in Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract

This study examines the effects of AI-powered information summarization features on students’ online purchase intention in Ho Chi Minh City. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 397 students with online shopping experience through a questionnaire comprising 47 observed variables and analyzed using SmartPLS. The results show that transparency and perceived trust significantly influence the perceived usefulness of AI-generated summaries, whereas information quality and reliability, perceived control, and user experience do not exhibit statistically significant effects. Perceived trust also directly affects online purchase intention. In addition, perceived usefulness positively influences purchase intention and mediates the effects of transparency and perceived trust. The findings highlight the importance of transparent information sources, trustworthy AI-generated content, and perceived usefulness in shaping students’ online purchasing decisions.
