Global corporate English training models and lessons for Vietnam’s human resources in the digital era

This study analyzes advanced corporate English training models worldwide to draw lessons for Vietnam’s workforce in the digital era. Grounded in the Economics of Language and Self-Determination Theory, the study employs qualitative document analysis to examine the shift from traditional language instruction toward practical, workplace-oriented training. Five prominent models and trends are identified: blended learning, gamification, AI-powered adaptive learning, microlearning, and communication readiness. These approaches support personalized learning pathways, satisfy learners’ psychological needs, optimize return on investment, and improve job performance. The study recommends that Vietnamese enterprises adopt data-driven training evaluation, integrate practical English with soft skills, and make greater use of artificial intelligence to enhance workforce capabilities and international competitiveness.
