Abstract
Home composting is an important solution for reducing organic waste collection and landfilling while promoting resource recycling and the circular economy. This study proposes a conceptual model and research hypotheses concerning factors affecting residents’ intention to practice home composting in Hoi An Dong Ward, Da Nang City. Based on literature review and document analysis, the study integrates the Theory of Planned Behavior, Norm Activation Model, Value - Belief - Norm Theory, Decomposed Theory of Planned Behavior, and previous empirical research. The proposed model comprises six determinants: attitude toward the behavior, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, personal moral norm, physical space conditions, and local government support. The proposed model and hypotheses provide a theoretical foundation for subsequent empirical studies on household composting behavior in urban Vietnam.
