The role of trust in students’ intention to use blockchain technology

Abstract

This study examines the role of trust in students’ intention to use blockchain technology. Data were collected from 302 valid survey responses and analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis, multiple regression, and path analysis. The findings show that social influence, regulatory support, and prior experience have positive and statistically significant effects on trust. Trust subsequently has a positive effect on students’ attitudes toward blockchain, while attitude positively influences their intention to use the technology. The results confirm that trust functions as a central mechanism through which external perceptions are transformed into favorable attitudes and behavioral intentions. The study provides practical implications for educational institutions, regulators, and technology developers seeking to encourage blockchain adoption by strengthening legal safeguards, user experience, social support, system reliability, and communication regarding blockchain applications.
