Digitizing water puppetry art: Art toy design solutions in the context of intangible cultural heritage preservation

Abstract
This study explores solutions for digitizing water puppetry art through art toy design in the context of preserving intangible cultural heritage. It proposes the DECIP design process model (Decode - Extract - Convert - Integrate - Produce) with a three-level mechanism for controlling cultural authenticity. Morphological analysis identifies five core design elements that can be transformed into the language of art toys, along with a three-tier product ecosystem integrated with NFC/AR technology. These innovations aim to bring heritage into contemporary life while generating economic resources to support artisans. Based on these findings, the study proposes implications for preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage through digital technologies and creative cultural product development.
