The role of enterprises in Vietnam’s national innovation system

Abstract
This study examines the multifaceted contributions of Vietnamese enterprises to the country’s innovation trajectory within the context of economic reform and international integration. The analysis highlights that firm-level innovation, including: spanning product, process, marketing, and organizational dimensions, constitutes a critical driver of competitiveness and sustained economic growth. Notable advancements are observed across both small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and state-owned organizations, reflecting an increasingly dynamic and adaptive business sector. The findings provide a comprehensive perspective on the evolving role of enterprises in shaping Vietnam’s innovation landscape and underscore the structural factors underpinning their contribution to long-term development.
