Managing factors affecting the job stress of bank employees in Ho Chi Minh City during the digital transformation period

Abstract

This study examines the influence of bank job-specific factors and the impact of digital transformation on the stress level of bank employees in Ho Chi Minh City. In this study, 120 employees in different positions including bank teller, individual credit officer, and corporate credit officer of joint stock commercial banks such as HD bank, AB bank VIB bank are interviewed. The study’s qualitative analysis finds out that the independent variables that fuel the job stress of bank employees are: high workload, strict KPI, long working hour, unfavorable working environment, lack of support from leaders, lack of financial reward, and fear of technological changes. Based on these results, some implications about stress management in banks during the digital transformation period are made to help banks reduce the job stress of their employees at all levels.
