Factors affecting the work motivation of lecturers at vocational colleges in Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract

This study aims to find out the factors affecting the work motivation of lecturers at vocational colleges in Ho Chi Minh City. Based on theories, this study identifies, tests and measures the factors affecting the work motivation of lecturers through a survey of 269 college lecturers in Ho Chi Minh City. The study’s results show that there are five factors positively affecting the work motivation of lecturers, including: i) Direct leadership; ii) Promotion opportunities; iii) Working conditions; iv) Income and v) Colleagues. Some managerial implications are made to increase the motivation of the college lecturers.
