The current digital government development of centrally-managed cities in Vietnam

The National Digital Transformation Program through 2025 and orientations towards 2030 of Vietnam was issued together with Decision 794/QĐ-TTg of the Prime Minister on June 3, 2020. Vietnam’s development goal is to become a digital, stable and prosperous nation, pioneer in adopting new technologies and models, fundamentally and comprehensively renovate management and administration activities of the Government, production and business activities of enterprises, people's way of life and work, and develop a safe and humane digital environment. For centrally-managed cities, along with the development of digital society and digital economy, the development of digital government is considered a pillar to well implement digital transformation activities locally, and contribute to the realization of the national digital transformation goal. This paper provides an overview of criteria for developing a digital government, analyzes advantages and disadvantages of centrally-managed cities in digital government development, and proposes some solutions for digital government development of centrally-managed cities in the coming time.
