Factors affecting the intention of people in Kien Giang province to participate in the voluntary social insurance: using the rational choice theory
Published: July 31, 2026
Abstract
The development of voluntary social insurance in Vietnam currently has many shortcomings. For example, the voluntary social insurance is not attractive to many people, and the number of people participating to the voluntary social insurance of different localities and regions are uneven. It is necessary for researchers and policymakers to find out solutions to overcome these shortcomings. This study surveys 370 people in the Mekong Delta and uses a linear structural analysis model to identify the factors affecting people's intention to participate in the voluntary social insurance. These factors include the attitude of people towards the voluntary social insurance, and the subjective norms of people.
