Maritime pilots during the Covid-19 pandemic: risks and solutions

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected all sectors on a global scale. The rapid spread of the Delta variant once again puts the world in an urgent situation. The shipping indutry is one of the sectors that are severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, not only in terms of maintaining operations but also ensuring the safety of seafarers. As maritime pilots play a very important role in shipping opeations, they are trying their best to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic whill still ensuring navigational safety for ships. This paper points out the risks that marine pilots are facing and proposes some solutions to avoid these risks.
