Factors influencing the decision of Vietnamese students to choose a career in the accounting and auditing field

Abstract
This study explores the factors influencing the decision of Vietnamese students to choose a career in the accounting and auditing field. Subjective factors are personal characteristics and career motivation. Objective factors are vocational education in high schools, family, friends, labor maket, and universities that have accounting and auditing programs. The study finds out that the career motivation and the importance of universities that provide accounting and auditing programs affect the decision of Vietnamese students. Meanwhile, the factors of personal characteristics, family, friends, and labor maket do not affect the career choice of students. Based on these results, some recommendations are made to help Vietnamese universities that provide accounting and auditing programs make significant investment to attract potential students.
