Improving access of students with difficult circumstances to student loans provided by Vietnam Bank for Social Policies in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province

Abstract
The policy of providing loans for students with difficult circumstances to help them keep studying has been implemented in Vietnam for more than 15 years since the Prime Minister's Decision No. 157/2007/QD-TTg. This policy has supported thousands of students to get preferential loans to keep their studies. This paper summarizes and evaluates the current student loan program of Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP). Based on students' assessments in terms of credit limit, disbursement process, information channel, and forms of support in the use of loans, this paper proposes some solutions to help students better access student loans, realizing the goal of not letting any students drop out because of financial difficulties.
