Solutions to improve the effectiveness of state management of marine economic development in Vietnam

Sustainably developing the marine economy to make Vietnam become a strong maritime nation is an urgent and important task in the current period. Although Vietnam has achieved intial results, the countrys marine economy is still not developed sustainably and it is not commensurate with its potential. In the new development period, in order to create a breakthrough in the development of Vietnam's marine economy, it is necessary to innovate the state management, and “consolidate the system of state marine economic management agencies in a general and unified manner from the central to local authorities”. This paper points ouut the current situation and shortcomings of the state management of marine economic development. Based on the paper’s findings, some recommendations are made to improve the effectiveness of state management of marine economic development in Vietnam in the near future.
