Factors affecting the scale of renewable energy sources in the national power system development planning of Vietnam

Renewable energy is playing an increasingly important role in the energy structure of the world in general and Vietnam in particular. Renewable energy sources basically do not produce carbon emissions as part of the electricity generation process. They contribute to the energy diversification process and ensure the energy security for a sustainable development. Calculating and selecting the appropriate scale and proportion of renewable energy sources in the power system are key tasks of Vietnam’s national power system development planning in the coming period. This study examines the factors affecting the scale of renewable energy sources in the national power system development planning of Vietnam.
