AI-driven smart logistics in the context of Industry 4.0

This study examines the role, application mechanisms, and impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in the development of smart logistics systems, logistics models capable of self-learning, self-optimizing, and making data-driven decisions in real time. The findings reveal that AI offers significant benefits across demand forecasting, transportation planning, supply chain optimization, warehouse management, and customer service. Advanced technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, IoT, and natural language processing, have been integrated into logistics operations to enhance accuracy, reduce costs, and improve responsiveness to market fluctuations. However, the adoption of AI in Vietnam’s logistics sector remains limited due to insufficient data infrastructure, high investment costs, and a shortage of skilled technology professionals. Based on these insights, the study proposes strategic solutions and development directions to promote effective AI adoption, aiming to build a smart, sustainable, and green logistics ecosystem in Vietnam.
