A multi-criteria decision-making approach to assess the potential of sustainable smart transportation technologies in Vietnam

Abstract

The economic development of a country is closely linked to the management and advancement of its transportation systems. In particular, with the growing demand for transportation infrastructure, smart transportation has emerged as a topic of significant interest among both academic and industrial communities. This study aims to contribute to the field of smart transportation by exploring and analyzing the potential of technologies in supporting the development of transportation systems. To achieve this objective, the study integrates fuzzy theory with Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods to evaluate and select the most suitable potential technologies for the implementation of smart transportation systems. Specifically, the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) and the Fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (FTOPSIS) are employed. Criteria such as Data, Socio-environmental impact, Economic factors, and Flexibility are incorporated into the analysis to ensure a comprehensive and effective implementation of smart transportation systems.
