A study on the ecotourism development potential associated with sustainable livelihood development in Hac Hai lagoon, Quang Binh province

Hac Hai lagoon is located at the end of the Kien Giang River, in the areas of Le Thuy and Quang Ninh districts, Quang Binh province. Hac Hai lagoon is rich in natural resources and it has great potential for tourism development, especially eco-tourism. However, Le Thuy and Quang Ninh districts frequently suffer from floods, natural disasters, and climate change. Therefore, it is necessary for Quang Binh province to explore Hac Hai lagoon’s ecotourism development potential associated with sustainable livelihood development for local people. It could be a new development direction for Quang Binh province’s tourism industry. This study uses both the point method and the livelihood framework method to assess the current development of ecotourism associated with livelihoods in Quang Ninh and Le Thuy districts. Based on the study’s findings, some solutions are proposed to develop eco-tourism products in association with the sustainable livelihood development of local people in Hac Hai lagoon.
