Abstract
Traditionally, foreign language acquisition, including English in Vietnam, has emphasized four core skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. However, pronunciation, a crucial yet often overlooked component, significantly impacts communication effectiveness. Incorrect pronunciation can hinder both information delivery and comprehension. Our experience teaching practical phonetics to students at the National Economics University from 2013 to present reveals a pervasive deficiency in English phonics among these highly educated individuals.
