The participation of trade unions in training and fostering qualifications and professional skills of workers in FDI enterprises

In foreign-invested enterprises, trade unions’ activities aim to improve the quality of workers and protect the legal and legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, especially when Vietnam has joined new-generation free trade agreements (FTAs), notably the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). Therefore, it is important for trade unions to actively participate and coordinate with professionals to orient and create conditions for workers to study, improve their qualifications and professional skills, etc. This study analyzed the current participation of trade unions in training and fostering qualifications, skills, and abilities of workers in FDI enterprises. Based on the study’s findings, some solutions were proposed to strengthen the role of trade unions in these activities.
