Fabrication of ZnO/TIO2 photocatalytic nanocomposite
Published: July 29, 2026
Abstract
In this study, the sol-gel method was used to synthesize ZnO/TiO2 nanocomposites for dye removal from textile wastewater. The material was analyzed by using TEM, XRD, BET, and UV-Vis. XRD was used to confirm the ZnO/TiO2 heterostructure, and TEM showed nearly spherical nanoparticles. The nanocomposite with a Zn(II):Ti(IV) ratio of 1:5 had a higher BET surface area (91.345 m²/g) and a narrower band gap (Eg = 3.06 eV) compared to the 1:1 ratio. The photocatalytic performance was also assessed by the reduction in Methylene Blue dye concentration.
