Impact of foliar fertilizers and light on yield and flower color of polianthes tuberosa “pink sapphie”

Abstract
This study identified suitable foliar fertilizers and light conditions for the growth and enhancement of flower color in Pink Sapphire Polianthes tuberosa. The experiment was designed as a factorial splitplot with two factors: six foliar fertilizer treatments and two light regimes. The results demonstrated that Pink Sapphire is a photophilic plant. Under full-sunlight conditions (no shading), parameters such as number of shoots per plant, number of flower branches per plant, number of flowers per inflorescence, flower diameter, and flower color were superior compared to low-light conditions (shade netting). The color parameters were L* = 83.5, a* = 3.3, and b* = 5.4. It was always the Foliar fertilizer treatments with AminoQuelan Mg (P3) and vitazyme (P5) that led to the most growth and flowers. These included the number of shoots, flower branches per plant, flowers per flower branch, flower branch length, and flower diameter. Foliar fertilizer treatment with Đầu Trâu MK 901 (P2) produced the highest flower yield, shortest flowering period, and longest flower vase life, with 65.5 flower branches per treatment, 164.2 days, and 12.1 days, respectively. Foliar fertilizer treatment with AminoQuelan Mg (P3) exhibited the most desirable flower color with parameters of L* = 83.8, a* = 2.9, and b* = 4.8.
