The Value Chain Approach to Developing the Anchovy Industry in Kien Giang Province Sustainably

Abstract
The process of globalization and international economic integration has brought both opportunities and challenges for all sectors, including the anchovy fishing and processing industry. To grow sustainably in both domestic and international markets, it is necessary for anchovy fishing and processing enterprises to adopt the value chain a new business approach. This study analyzed the characteristics of the value chain of anchovy products in Kien Giang province. The study also explored the relationships between stakeholders in the production and distribution of anchovy products. The study’s findings showed that fishermen are the most disadvantaged stakeholder in the anchovy value chain. Therefore, it is important to support fishermen to achieve sustainable business development for the anchovy fishing and processing industry.
