The informal economy and informal workers are considered one of the biggest obstacles for many developing countries, including Vietnam, in ensuring sustainable employment and achieving higher economic growth. This study provides a descriptive statistical overview of informal employment by gender in the world and in Vietnam. The findings are expected to support policymakers in developing appropriate gender-sensitive policies to better protect vulnerable workers.
