Cruise tourism: Major environmental challenges and some solutions

Abstract
Cruise tourism has grown strongly in recent years. However, cruise tourism often involves long voyages, causing many environmental challenges. To limit these environmental impacts, many measures have been implemented, such as using environmentally friendly fuel, applying end-of-pipe treatment technologies, advanced wastewater treatment technologies, solid waste recycling, and eliminating single-use plastic products. These measures are expected to contribute to making cruise tourism more sustainable.
