Published: July 27, 2026
Abstract
Based on the social exchange theory and the resource-based theory, this study analyzed the influence of human resource management practices and organizational culture on employee commitment to the organization and the job performance of workers in the retail sector. In this study, both qualitative research and quantitative research methods were used. The SmartPLS 4.0 was also used to analyze the survey results of 159 employees in Ho Chi Minh City’s retail sector. The study found that human resource management practices and organizational culture have a positive impact on employee commitment and employee work performance. It suggests that managers should complete a code of conduct and general working rules to help employees easily communicate with each other and help new employees more easily integrate into the organization, thereby increasing employee engagement with the organization and employee performance.
