Circularity performance measurement criteria for Vietnamese textile enterprises from the perspective of ISO 59020

Abstract

With the transition toward a circular economy, textile enterprises need to evaluate and improve resource efficiency, minimize environmental impacts, and optimize supply chains. This study assesses the current implementation of circularity criteria among Vietnamese textile enterprises and proposes a circularity performance measurement framework based on the international standard ISO 59020. The findings indicate that although the adoption of ISO 59020 remains limited, many leading textile enterprises worldwide have begun applying circularity performance indicators. The study proposes a set of criteria tailored to the characteristics of Vietnam’s textile industry, covering three key dimensions: resource inflows and outflows, energy and water, and economic and governance aspects.
