The FOMO psychological phenomenon: Implications for human resource management in enterprises

Abstract

Abstract The "Fear of Missing Out" (FOMO) has become an increasingly prevalent psychological phenomenon in modern workplaces, particularly amid rapid digitalization and the widespread influence of social media. In the context of human resource management, FOMO manifests as anxiety over missing out on opportunities, information, or career advancements, which can lead to stress, decreased concentration, and diminished work performance. This study explores FOMO from a management perspective, analyzing its psychological and organizational implications. The study also highlights how FOMO impacts human resource management practices and proposes insights for mitigating its negative effects to foster a healthier, more productive work environment.
