Formulation and quality evaluation of a makeup remover containing purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) extract

Abstract

This study investigates the formulation and quality evaluation of a makeup remover incorporating purslane extract (Portulaca oleracea L.). The formulation comprised 3% purslane extract, 4% PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate, 0.3% caprylic component, and 0.2% cetearyl alcohol, along with appropriate additives. Product quality was assessed in terms of physicochemical stability and functional performance. The results indicate that the formulation exhibited a characteristic aroma, stability at room temperature without phase separation, a pH of 5.05, high homogeneity, and effective cleansing with good dispersion of impurities. Additionally, the product was non-irritating, easily rinsed, and capable of maintaining skin hydration, demonstrating its suitability for cosmetic applications.
