Developing green MICE tourism in Vietnam amid tourism growth and emission-reduction requirements

MICE tourism has considerable potential for development in Vietnam as both international and domestic tourism markets continue to expand and demand for high-quality meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions, and events increases. However, the characteristics of MICE tourism, including air travel, accommodation, energy consumption, event organization, and extensive use of single-use materials, make green transformation and emission reduction increasingly important. This study analyzes the current development of green MICE tourism in Vietnam, identifies key achievements and remaining limitations, and proposes solutions for building a MICE ecosystem capable of generating high economic value while reducing environmental impacts.
