Solutions for sustainable cocoa development in Ea Kar District, Dak Lak Province

Abstract

This study analyzes the current state of cocoa development in Ea Kar District, Dak Lak Province, based on field surveys and a review of relevant documents. The findings show that cocoa has been cultivated in the locality for a considerable period and has gradually formed a relatively stable production area, with cooperatives playing an increasingly important role. However, production remains small-scale and fragmented, raw material quality is inconsistent, value chain linkages are unstable, and both processing capacity and the utilization of by-products remain limited. Based on these findings, the study proposes several solutions, including consolidating raw material production areas, improving production quality, strengthening the role of cooperatives, promoting deep processing, and developing circular-economy practices to increase value and support the sustainable development of the cocoa sector.
