Local community participation in green tourism destination management: A study of Sa Pa

Sa Pa is facing the need to shift from extensive tourism growth toward a greener and more sustainable development model in which local communities play an important role in resource conservation, service provision, and destination quality monitoring. This study examines the current participation of local communities in Sa Pa and identifies limitations related to participation rights, benefit sharing, service capacity, and environmental protection. On this basis, the study proposes solutions to strengthen the role of local residents in destination management and to promote more substantive community participation in the development of green tourism.
