Dynamic capabilities and market adaptation of mountainous agricultural cooperatives: A study in Tuyen Quang

Abstract

This study applies Dynamic Capabilities Theory to develop an analytical framework for the market adaptation of mountainous agricultural cooperatives, using cases in Tuyen Quang as illustrations. The study draws on secondary data updated to September 9, 2026, combining theoretical synthesis, descriptive statistics, and comparative analysis of three cooperatives. The findings show that the selected cooperatives have adjusted the organization of raw material production areas in connection with processing, distribution channels, or production procedures in response to market requirements. The proposed framework identifies operational capability as the mechanism through which sensing, seizing, and reconfiguring capabilities are translated into market adaptation outcomes. Member governance is proposed to strengthen the relationship between reconfiguring and operational capability, while logistics constraints may weaken the relationship between operational capability and market adaptation. The study’s contribution lies in operationalizing these relationships through indicators derived from organizational records, thereby supporting the identification of specific adaptation bottlenecks within individual cooperatives. These proposed relationships require further empirical testing.
