Digital transformation and the operational performance of industrial enterprises in Dong Nai Province

Abstract

Against the backdrop of Industry 4.0 and Vietnam’s National Digital Transformation Program, this study examines the impact of digital transformation on the operational performance of industrial enterprises in Dong Nai Province. Based on the Resource-Based View and Dynamic Capabilities theories, the study uses quantitative data from 287 industrial enterprises, together with Cronbach’s Alpha, exploratory factor analysis, and OLS regression. The results show that digital transformation has a positive and statistically significant effect on operational performance (β = 0.412; p < 0.001). Firm size and digital human resources have positive effects, whereas barriers involving capital, specialized personnel, infrastructure, and managerial capability have negative effects. The impact also differs between large firms and SMEs and across industries with different levels of process standardization.
