Abstract
Among the variety of lipid-based nanocarriers, liposomes are considered as the leading material for drug delivery in cancer treatment. Because liposomes are proven to be biocompatible, help to improve bioavailability, reduce side effects of drugs, release controlled drugs and achieve targeted drug delivery. With more than 20 references reviewed, this study presents issues related to the structure, composition, classification of liposomes and the potential applications of this nanocarrier system in cancer therapy. In addition, the status of liposome research in Vietnam is also discussed, with the objective of updating readers and providing future directions for research and development in this field.
