A study on preserving lemon essential oil microencapsulated by ion-gel Alginate-Calci and Alginate-Calci-Chitosan after drying
Published: August 1, 2026
Abstract
This study investigates the impact of storage time at different environmental conditions on the Alginate-Calci and Alginate-Calci-Chitosan system of lemon essential oil microencapsulated particles dried by different methods. Storage conditions for microencapsulated seeds after drying at the temperature of 350C and at 200C. The results indicate that the storage conditions at normal temperature of 350C and temperature of 200C both experience the loss of lemon essential oil in Alginate-Calci and Alginate-Calci-Chitosan systems. However, the loss levels are less than 50% after 28 days of storage, and there is compatibility of lemon essential oil loss at both these temperatures. Microencapsulated particles by ion-gel method of Alginate-Calci-Chitosan system also give better microencapsulation efficiency in storage because the loss of essential oil is less than that of Alginate-Calci system for both dried seeds by the tray drying method. and fluidized bed drying.
