A study on the bioactive compounds of Elaeocarpus hygrophilus Kurz. fruit

Abstract

This study evaluates the influence of ultrasound assisted extraction conditions on antioxidant activity of Elaeocarpus hygrophilus Kurz. fruit’s extract through DPPH free radical scavenging activity and total reducing power. The study’s results show that the type of extraction solvent, Elaeocarpus hygrophilus Kurz. fruit to solvent ratio, extraction time and extraction temperature all affect the fruit’s extract. The study also identifies the optimal extraction conditions. The antioxidant activity of extract is high when the extraction process uses distilled water with the ratio of 20 ml per 1 gram of Elaeocarpus hygrophilus Kurz. fruit at 50oC for 20 minuntes.
Keywords
