Foodstuffs have a high international trade nature. Hence, food safety issues are not only a matter of each country but also an issue of global governance. Due to the research limitations, this paper focuses on providing the theoretical basis of the legal framework on food safety, in order to create a premise for the assessment and analysis of the inadequacies and limitations of the food safety legislation.
