International experiences in using the online dispute resolution for the e-commerce sector and lessons learnt for Vietnam

In the field of e-commerce, besides traditional dispute resolution methods, online dispute resolution is a new method with many outstanding advantages. In the context of Vietnam’s rapidly growing e-commerce sector, online dispute resolution is even considered an optimal solution. However, the online dispute resolution for the e-commerce sector has received inadequate attention, has faced challenges in terms of infrastructure and legal framework. Therefore, it is necessary for Vietnam to study the relevant experiences of countries around the world in order to overcome current problems and amend Vietnamese regulations on the implementation of online dispute resolution for the e-commerce sector. This paper summarizes some theoretical issues relating to online e-commerce dispute resolution, introduces and analyzes experiences of some countries in these issues. Based on the paper’s findings, some solutions are proposed to promote the online e-commerce dispute resolution in Vietnam in the current period.
