Investigating the effects of ingredients on the self-emulsifying drug delivery system from Astaxanthin extract

Abstract
This study investigated the formulation of self-emulsifying drug delivery systems (SEDDS) using astaxanthin (AXT) extracted from used shrimp shells. The goal was to enhance AXT's bioavailability and enable large-scale production. Various ingredients were evaluated for their ability to rapidly form transparent emulsions. The optimal SEDDS formulation comprised AXT extract, Gosulin IL oil, Tween 80, and a synergistic mixture of Neocare P3R and PEG 400 (1:1, m/m) cosurfactants.
