Assessing the development and implementation of policies on renewable energy development in Vietnam

Abstract
This paper examines the legal framework of renewable energy development and its policy implementation in Vietnam. The paper uses legal documents as the primary sources for the assessment of policy implementation including the Law on Electricity, Resolution No. 55-NQ/TW of February 11, 2020 of the Politburo on the orientation of Vietnam's National Energy Development Strategy, Decision No. 2068/QD-TTg dated November 25, 2015 of the Prime Minister on approving Vietnam's Renewable Energy Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050. The paper finds that the renewable energy development program in Vietnam has based on the proposed policy direction and has gained considerable achievements. However, there are existing barriers that need to be addressed in order to promote the development of renewable energy in Vietnam properly and effectively.
