69. Optimizing the Medium Composition for Synthesizing β-Glucosidase (E.C. 3.2.1.21) from Aspergillus niger Using Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) as a Substrate

Abstract

This study is to optimize the medium composition for synthesizing b-glucosidase (E.C. 3.2.1.21) from Aspergillus nigerwith the use of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) as substrate. This study explores the production of b-glucosidase from local available by - product materials. The study finds out that the optimal medium compositions for the biosynthesis of b-glucosidase from Aspergillus nigerare 22.8 percent water hyacinth; 1.17 percent glucose; 0.2 percent ammonium sulphate and the optimal culture time is 16.6 hours. Under these medium compositions, the activity of b-glucosidase increase 2.78 times compared to the initial survey level.
