65. Formulating and Assessing Andrographis paniculata Alternative Medicine Capsule

Abstract
This study is to formulate and assess the Andrographis paniculata (A. paniculata) capsules. A.
paniculate capsules are prepared by combining A. paniculata extract with diluents like bean
starch or corn starch and excipients magnesium carbonate, and talcum at concentrations as 30, 40,
50, and 60% total extract. A. paniculata alternative medicine capsules are evaluated in terms of
apparent density, fluidity, mass uniformity, and disintegration time. The results show that the
corn starch meets the requirements for the capsule dosage form. The study also examines the
capsule’s stability under accelerated condition and it finds out that magnesium carbonate and
talcum are not suitable for active ingredients in the A. paniculata capsule dosage form.
