The nature of virtual currencies from the perspective of Vietnamese legal system

Abstract

Virtual currencies possess the legal characteristics of assets, including intellectual property, and should be regarded as a type of "non-traditional" asset—encrypted assets created through encryption techniques and blockchain technology. In the future, concepts and legal understandings of assets will need to be updated and expanded to adequately address and regulate new forms of assets in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era. From the perspective of the Vietnamese legal system, this article focuses on analyzing "virtual currencies" through the lens of existing legal concepts to determine their legal nature.
