An Evaluation of Cordycepin and Adenosin Content of Cordyceps militaris Cultivated in Organic Environment

Abstract

Cordyceps militaris is a precious medicinal mushroom that can be cultured in various artificial media. This study aimed to select an organic propagation medium and cultivate fruiting bodies of Cordyceps militaris. The results showed that the HC3 agar medium produced a colony diameter of 73.81 mm after 12 days of incubation. Likewise, the HC3 liquid medium achieved a TLC density of 86.67/10 mL, a TLC diameter of 1.77 mm, and a biomass of 11.60 g/L. In the fruiting body cultivation experiment, the medium containing brown rice (50 g/L), 4% silkworm pupae and 50 mL of HC3 organic solution produced 119.50 sprouts, 76.92 mm fruiting body length and 29.46 g fresh weight. The contents of cordycepin and adenosine in fresh fruiting bodies reached 5,739.2 mg/kg and 3,913.4 mg/kg, respectively.
